Commissioner, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Commissioner Jones joined the Department in March 2008, and was appointed Commissioner June 1, 2014. She currently serves on the Board of the American Council of State Savings Supervisors. She is the former Board Chairman. Commissioner Jones served for four years as a member of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) State Liaison Committee (SLC). Her previous experience includes serving as in-house counsel for financial institutions for over 20 years. Her main area of practice has been residential mortgage lending. Commissioner Jones received her undergraduate degree from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University and her law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law. She is a graduate of the Governor’s Executive Development Program through the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. She is also a graduate of Leadership Austin.
Commissioner Jones has served on the boards of Habitat for Humanity, Center for Battered Women (now SAFE Alliance), Junior League of Austin, and Caritas of Austin.
Compliance Examiner, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Justin has been with the Department for 10+ years. He conducts exams of non-depository Mortgage Loan Originator operations, and also participates in compliance exams of state savings banks. He currently serves as chairman of the State Regulatory Registry’s Mortgage Testing and Education Board.
Director of Mortgage Regulation, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Tony joined the Texas Department of Savings & Mortgage Lending in September 2003.
Prior to joining the department, Tony was a Vice President with Olympus Servicing, where he managed the Loan Resolution Department for this residential mortgage loan servicer. Tony has over 37 years of experience in the financial arena including loan origination, loan workout and loan servicing functions with variety of companies. Tony is a graduate of the University of Texas system with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing / Finance.
Tony has served on the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators (AARMR) Board of Directors since 2013 and previously held the positions of Treasure, Vice President and President. Tony also served on the State Regulatory Registry Mortgage Testing an Education Board (MTEB) from 2010 through 2014 and currently serves as the AARMR representative on the State Regulatory Registry Board of Managers.
General Counsel, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Ernest has over 35 years of legal experience. In addition to his six years of service with the department, his past experience includes service as an Assistant United States Attorney, state district judge and as general counsel of a federal thrift. He received his B.B.A. with honors in finance and his J.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Volunteer time is spent serving as deputy staff judge advocate within the Texas State Guard component of the Texas Military Department. He is also a nationally registered and state certified emergency medical technician.
Chief Mortgage Examiner, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Ellena has been with the Department for 16 years and is a CSBS Certified Mortgage Examinations Manager. Ellena supervises the field mortgage examiners and manages the mortgage examination division. Ellena also conducts mortgage company and mortgage banker compliance examinations and has participated in several Multistate Mortgage Committee examinations. Ellena is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and currently serves on the CSBS Performance Standards Committee.
Supervisory Compliance Examiner, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Bill joined the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending in 2005, after working in the consumer finance sector for nine years. Bill heads the Department’s thrift compliance program and is involved in compliance examinations of non-depository mortgage companies and mortgage bankers. Bill was selected to be an AARMR representative on the CSBS Bank & Mortgage Accreditation- Performance Standards Committee from December 2013 to July 2018. Bill has served as the NMLS Policy Committee member for CSBS District 4 since June 2018. Bill is a 1993 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and is a Certified Senior Mortgage Examiner.
Associate General Consel, Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending
Devyn recieved his JD from Pepperdine School of Law. He is licensed to practice in law in Texas and California. Devyn has been with the Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending since September 2016. Before joining TDSML Devyn was the Fomer Texas Assistant Attorney General, Transportation Division. He also served as Judge Advocate in the Texas State Guard.
