Founded in 1917, the Texas Mortgage Bankers Association has provided leadership, legislative advocacy, and education to the real estate finance industry. We promote fair and ethical lending practices among real estate finance professionals through a wide range of programs. As the oldest and largest statewide MBA, our mission is to advance Texas mortgage banking and serve the mutual interests of our members who support Texas' annual $100-plus billion mortgage market.

Free housing counseling services available to homeowners online or by telephone at 888.995.HOPE. Among other features, the site has easy-to-complete forms for consumers online to determine if they are eligible for any of the loan Home Affordable Modification or Refinance programs being offered currently, allows homeowners to look up their loans if the loan is owned or guaranteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac and make application for a refinance, and has a drop-down screen and hyperlinks to numerous servicers to put consumers in contact with their servicers to seek a modification. Importantly, it also informs the consumer of the right to free housing counseling by a local HUD-approved housing counselor that can be selected and contacted from a listing on the Website.
